
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah has delivered Human Appeal International Sharjah Prize for voluntary work 2011on the category of voluntary associations and the non-profit organizations supporting the educational aspects. Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Awadi, the Assistant Secretary-General for financial and administrative affairs, has received the award on behalf of HAI. The ceremony for the award has been held in the Palace of Culture in the Emirate of Sharjah with the presence of different bodies and institutions in the country.
HAI won this important award because of its replete record with its persistent support to the educational activities inside and outside the UAE. To illustrate, HAI establishes vocational training centers and provides the finical assistance and scholarships for students in various academic stages. Further, it offers school bags and stationery for thousands of needy students and orphans. To add, HAI provides schools with basic equipment and various educational means. Recently, it carried out various maintenance works addressing schools and universities in Gaza, Palestine.
On this occasion, Al-Awadi said:”the UAE is concerned constantly to support all kinds of human needs including the educational, health, social and others. Its generous hands reached the farthest point in our current world. It was praised by many bodies for its effective humanitarian mission. It has shed a light on the traits that distinguish the Emirati people- the government and the nation-from others especially great generosity”.
Al-Awadi said: “in conformity to that, Sharjah worked hard to encourage the bodies that devote itself to various humanitarian plans. We, at Human Appeal International, received in extreme delight the award of voluntary work. In the time we express our gratitude to H.H the ruler of Sharjah, we assure that it is a doubled responsibility on our shoulders. This responsibility urges HAI to follow the way clarified by the leaders of this country to stand by and support all kinds of charitable activities inside and outside the UAE Inshallah”.
It is worth noting that the Sharjah Award is considered as the first of its kind in relation to the field of voluntary work on the level of the United Arab Emirates and the Arab World for supporting and encouraging the voluntary efforts on all aspects. It indicates appreciating and motivating all to enhance the voluntary work in various domains in a way that makes the UAE experience a model to be imitated. The award prevails 13 domains: education, economics, culture, arts, health, ecology, childhood and youth, society, Shari’a and religion, sports and scouts, civil defense, media, technology.
