Starting from the UAE addressing all the needy in the world and with the honorable auspices of H.H Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman-Member of UAE Supreme Council along with the support of all Their Highness, Emirates rulers, headed by H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates as well as H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President –Prime Minister-Ruler of Dubai, Human Appeal International (HAI) has extended the Emirati hands manifested in its unified hand in implementing its plans over twenty five years prevailing worldwide areas. HAI has been established on 1984 by virtue of an Amiri decree. The divan of H.H Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi has issued the decree in times when the famine in Sudan became more serious than ever before. Since that time HAI has persisted offering aid to every needy person eastward or westward in the globe.

Bearing in mind that HAI is a humanitarian charitable worldwide non-governmental organization, it seeks to improve the circumstances of the needy through a comprehensive sustainable development. Its progress is based on: its principles, coping with the technical developments, looking towards excellence and leadership.

Through its activities and executed projects, HAI tries to meet the following goals:

  • Improving needy societies through working on developing its educational, health, social, economic circumstances.
  • Contributing in the relief of the affected communities by natural disasters and social calamities.
  • Meeting the needs of orphans and improving their health, psychological and social circumstances.
  • Strengthening the relations and ties between HAI and its rivals to find out the latest systems adopted by the nations in this field of work.

HAI has recorded an honorable presence in the field of charitable and humanitarian work locally, regionally and globally. To illustrate, it enjoys an advisory status in the economic council at the United Nations and Permanent membership in the World Islamic Council for advocacy and relief; besides being an observer in the Governors’ Board of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD); as well as being a Member of international Council of Voluntary Organizations (ICVA). To add, it has signed various agreements and memorandums of understanding with international organizations such as: UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO) and the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Concerning field work, HAI offices are scattered in more than twelve countries through which it provides the required aid to achieve sustainable development in poor communities through four main programs: social development program, educational development program, health development program, urgent relief program.

In the context of the social development program, HAI has executed several projects: providing water including offering water coolers, drilling superficial and artesian wells especially in areas where it is difficult for its inhabitants to get drinking water. In addition the program includes various projects in an attempt to improve the status of poor families through the alienation of handicraft equipments; such as: sewing machines, transporting wagons or putting them in possession of livestock or agricultural lands to make living. It is worth noting that these projects have contributed in achieving self- sufficiency. However, the most prominent of HAI projects in relation to the social program is the project of orphans' and childhood care. Through out its progression, HAI was able to sponsor more than 37000 orphans at several countries where it offers its social, educational, health or relief care.

Through adopting the educational program, HAI performs divergent plans such as building and maintaining mosques, establishing and furnishing schools and educational centers as well as running activities inside, distributing school pages including all required stationary. Further, it has paid special attention to establishing rehabilitation centers for orphans where they are trained professionally to be effective members in their societies believing in the principle of self reliance.

In relation to health program, HAI organizes various projects such as establishing and equipping hospitals and health centers, running mobile clinics as well as health convoys for fatal diseases fighting especially in the isolated areas where people lack health services. Moreover, it was able to execute several campaigns to fight blindness; thanks God, it was able to bring back the blessing of sight for thousands of blind people. Apart from that, HAI is keen to take the needs of the disabled in consideration. Thus, thousands of wheelchairs and hearing sets were distributed on the needy. Beyond that, in Palestine, it has established a factory for artificial limbs.

Finally…HAI relief program, since 1984, it has launched its activities in response to the drought that hit the Horn of Africa; therefore, it has carried out its initial project to urgently relieve the afflicted. With the increase of disasters and wars in the world, HAI undertakes cumulative responsibility towards the aggrieved. Along the conflicts and wars, it has embarked on relieving the grieved as it was the case at Bosnia and Herzegovina 1993, Kosovo 1998, Iraq, Palestine, and Darfur of Sudan. During the last decades, it has run massive relieving campaigns addressing the afflicted of natural disasters; most recently, people afflicted from drought in Niger, Somalia, Kenya, stricken by Tsunami earthquake in Sir Lanka as well as the afflicted with Pakistan and Iran earthquakes. Not only does HAI run special campaigns for children feeding centers addressing children afflicted by malnutrition in Niger but it also runs camps of the refugees at Kasala (east Sudan). In addition, it has contributed at reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Iraq, and Sir Lanka.

Adopting transparency approach and criteria of quality applied by HAI in all types of implemented projects, various international organizations adhered to praise its efforts and to enter into cooperation agreements and partnerships concerning various vital plans; such as: Office of the UN High Commissioner Refugees (UNHCR), World Health Organization (WHO), UN World Food Program (WFP), and Doctors without Borders (MSF).

HAI tireless march is teemed with evident achievements that cannot be limited in these counted lines. However, the smile that we have drawn on the faces of ten million of beneficiaries out of our scattered shiny projects worldwide will remain the undeniable evidence of the previously mentioned facts.
